EXPERIENCE CURRICULUM

At Little Stars Preschool, we believe young children learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences. That’s why we proudly use Experience Curriculum (by Mother Goose Time) as the foundation of our classrooms, paired with Brightwheel, the app we use to stay connected with families.

Together, Experience Curriculum and Brightwheel allow us to deliver high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning while keeping parents informed, involved, and confident in their child’s day.

Experience Curriculum is a research-based, play-centered curriculum designed specifically for early childhood education. Rather than focusing on worksheets or rote memorization, it emphasizes hands-on learning, creativity, social development, and curiosity.

Each month, teachers receive thoughtfully planned activities, materials, and lessons that are adaptable to each child’s interests, abilities, and developmental stage. This flexibility allows us to meet children where they are while still supporting consistent growth.

Experience Curriculum supports the whole child by addressing all major areas of early development:

Cognitive Development

  • Children build early thinking and problem-solving skills through activities that encourage curiosity, experimentation, and discovery.

Language & Literacy

  • Storytelling, songs, conversations, and early writing experiences help children develop strong communication skills and a love for language.

Mathematics

  • Hands-on math experiences introduce early concepts such as counting, sorting, patterns, shapes, and number sense in fun, meaningful ways.

Creative Expression

  • Art, music, movement, and dramatic play allow children to express themselves, build confidence, and explore their creativity.

Social & Emotional Development

  • Children learn how to build relationships, manage emotions, practice empathy, and develop independence—essential skills for lifelong success.

Physical Development

  • Both fine and gross motor skills are strengthened through movement, sensory play, and hands-on activities that support growing bodies.

Approaches to Learning

  • Experience Curriculum nurtures curiosity, persistence, cooperation, and confidence—helping children learn how to learn.

The Importance of Play-Based Learning

Play is not just fun… it’s how young children learn best.

At the early childhood stage, play-based education supports brain development, strengthens social skills, and encourages creativity and problem-solving. Through guided play, children make sense of the world around them, practice new skills, and build a strong foundation for future academic learning.

Our teachers intentionally plan play experiences that:

  • Encourage exploration and imagination

  • Support social interaction and cooperation

  • Build early academic skills naturally and joyfully

  • Allow children to learn at their own pace

Staying Connected Through Brightwheel

We use Brightwheel to seamlessly connect families with their child’s learning experience. Brightwheel allows parents to:

  • Receive daily updates, photos, and messages

  • View learning activities tied directly to Experience Curriculum

  • Track developmental progress and milestones

  • Communicate easily with teachers and administration

This partnership between curriculum and technology helps teachers create experiences that are connected.
