Ursa minor Preschool & Ursa Major PRESCHOOL

3 to 4 years old

(Milford campus – children may begin as early as 2.5 years old)

Our Preschool Program is designed to build on the foundation established in earlier classrooms while gently transitioning children toward more academic learning. At this stage, curiosity blossoms into deeper thinking, language becomes more complex, and play becomes purposeful. Our intentional curriculum balances structured academics with hands-on exploration, creativity, and fun.

A Strong Academic Foundation

Preschoolers are ready for more focused learning experiences, and our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to support growth across key academic areas:

  • Language & Literacy: Storytelling, letter recognition, phonological awareness, early writing, and rich classroom conversations support reading readiness and communication skills.

  • Early Math: Children explore counting, number recognition, patterns, shapes, measurement, and simple problem-solving through play-based math activities.

  • Science Exploration: Hands-on experiments, observation, and exploration help children ask questions, make predictions, and understand the world around them.

Learning Through Play & Exploration

Even as academics increase, play remains essential to meaningful learning. Preschoolers engage daily in:

  • Dramatic Play: Role-playing, imaginative scenarios, and cooperative play help develop social skills, language, creativity, and problem-solving.

  • Sensory Exploration: Open-ended sensory activities allow children to explore textures, materials, and concepts while supporting regulation and creativity.

  • Gross & Fine Motor Development: Running, climbing, cutting, drawing, and building strengthen coordination, control, and confidence.

Supporting the Whole Child

Our Preschool program nurtures not just academic growth, but emotional, social, and physical development as well. Teachers intentionally guide children in following routines, working independently, collaborating with peers, and building confidence in their abilities.

A Joyful, Engaging Classroom Environment

Preschool classrooms are vibrant, welcoming spaces where children feel safe to explore, ask questions, and take risks in their learning. Teachers foster a love of learning by making academics engaging, hands-on, and meaningful to each child.
